This $142 million improvement maximised the AW101 for high-altitude operations. The addition included terrain avoidance systems, sophisticated weather radar, oxygen systems for passengers and crew, The cabin was equipped with emergency oxygen supplies, pressure control systems, and mountain operations specific navigation tools. Engine tweaks and extra fuel tanks provide dependable performance at very high elevations.
