5. The Maritime Guardian SH-60R
A $95 million upgrade turned the Seahawk from a basic maritime surveillance tool into a cutting-edge one. Among the customising were powerful sonar equipment, magnetic anomaly detectors, and improved radar capability. For carrier operations, the helicopter underwent folding rotor blades, corrosion-resistant treatments, and computerised flight controls for adverse sea conditions. The changes included sophisticated navigation systems for long over-water sorties and a pressurised cabin for high-altitude operations. Tactical data links and special weaponry systems were combined for anti-submarine warfare capability.
