4. Moskva-class Helicopter Cruiser
Combining conventional cruiser capability with major helicopter operations, this creative Soviet design transformed anti-submarine warfare. Designed specifically to support several Ka-25 helicopters for anti-submarine operations, the ship had a sizable helicopter deck and hangar. Its advanced sonar systems and weapons made it especially successful in hunting submarines; its surface-to----air missiles gave strong air defense capability. The Moskva-class proved how well traditional cruiser roles combined with aviation assets worked.
