Absurd Products and Designs That Somehow Actually Exist

5. You Must Really, Really Want That Job

This might be the ultimate test of an applicant’s determination and patience. The task of manually entering every number, symbol, and character in this lengthy, multi-paragraph link is nothing short of daunting. It’s hard to imagine anyone having the patience to complete such a tedious task. Did the recruiters not consider using a URL shortener for this situation? At least if this were online, people could simply copy and paste the link. But since it’s printed, it’s practically useless. No one is likely to type all of this out, meaning the recruiters will probably receive few, if any, applications. This recruitment method is a perfect example of how poorly technology can be applied in the hiring process. The sheer length and complexity of the URL create an unnecessary barrier to entry that could deter even the most qualified candidates. It’s especially ironic if the job requires any knowledge of digital communication or user experience. The recruiters have essentially created an unintentional pre-screening test that has nothing to do with actual job qualifications. This oversight also suggests a broader issue with the company’s approach to modern digital tools and efficiency. In today’s competitive job market, making the application process unnecessarily difficult could mean missing out on talented individuals who simply don’t have the time or patience for such hurdles.
