3. S-500 Prometheus: The Stratospheric Guardian
With the S-500 Prometheus, Russia's air defence system marks a new generation able to engage targets at remarkable altitudes of up to 200 km. Up to 10 ballistic missiles moving at hypersonic speeds can be tracked and engaged concurrently by this technology. With hitherto unheard-of accuracy, the S-500's sophisticated radar complex can identify stealth aircraft and separate actual warheads from decoys. Its missiles are quite resistant to jamming since their guiding systems include active and passive ones. The mobility and fast deployment capacity of the system guarantee its ability to minimise notice protection of important infrastructure.
