9. The Healing Competition
Local legend is that two ancient healing gods, Apollo and Asclepius, formerly competed amiably to see who could produce the strongest healing spring.Every god endowed separate pools with special medicinal qualities, which produced the varying mineral composition seen in the several springs in Pamukkale today.According to the rivalry, both gods decided to share the holy spot for the good of mankind, therefore ending any conflict in a draw.This myth clarifies why various springs in Pamukkale are reputed to assist with particular diseases and why contemporary chemical analysis has proved that every pool truly has a unique mineral profile.
