4. The Sultan's Daughter

A cherished daughter of a sultan in the Ottoman age suffered from an enigmatic sickness for which no doctor could treat. The sultan heard of Pamukkale's enchanted springs after running through all conventional remedies. He had his daughter taken to the thermal springs, desperate to rescue her, and she bathed everyday for forty days. She not only recovered totally but also had such a degree of enhancement in beauty that she became known as the " Pearl of Pamukkale."The sultan was so appreciative that he directed the building of ornate bathing facilities and gardens all around the springs, many of which still exist today.Ottoman court records proving royal visits to the location and the building of several architectural enhancements during the 16th century confirm this account.
